Bonjour!

Bonjour! by judkajudy
.
Mimi has gone to Paris where she met up with our dog, Cooper!

This is the first time I've used the new Brick Wall background stamp from Penny Black and I know I am going to use it a lot! I have the "Mimi in Paris" transparent set from Penny Black and the Brick Wall will provide a great setting for Mimi and her adventures in Paris!

I think I will declare today "Dedication Thursday" in honor of a former co-worker who deemed Thursdays to be the day to catch up on anything he'd neglected during the first part of the week. That fits my situation perfectly today!

Hope your Thursday is dedicated to anything you meant to do earlier but just didn't get around to it!   Since today is the last day of the month, it's a perfect day to complete those May projects before June arrives tomorrow.  Thanks for stopping by!

Clean and Simple Manly

Clean and Simple Manly by judkajudy

The challenge at CAS-ual Fridays this week is to make a manly card including the use of patterned paper.

I've used the Hero Arts Vintage Car as the focus of the card, added some Washi tape for the "road" and included a Hero Arts sentiment, "arched" to fit the circle. The patterned paper is from my "stash" and was designed by Carolee McMullin.

Since I have a husband, two brothers and four sons, manly cards are put to good use in this family!

It was a good holiday weekend, now it's back to the regular routine.  Since this is the last Tuesday of the month, it's a bridge-playing day!   Thanks for stopping by!

Penny Black Tom and Tilly

Penny Black Tom and Tilly by judkajudy
.
This image really touched my heart the first time I saw it!! To me, it represents love that has stood the test of time and romance knows no age.

I paper-pieced the clothes and used Copics to color the rest of the image. There are gems in Tilly's bouquet.

It's been a good mix of household chores and time for hobbies at our house this weekend. Summer has landed here in Alabama and outdoor work and walking the dog takes place either in the early morning or the late evening.   I hope you are enjoying this long weekend, the official start of Summer!

Of course today we are flying lots of flags in our front yard to honor those who have died serving our country. They are a reminder that we must never take for granted the life we enjoy in this country.

Clean and Simple Die Cuts/Punches

Clean and Simple Die Cuts/Punches by judkajudy
My goal this week was to enter more challenges. Originally, I chose five that I thought were possible. I ended up entering three, including this card for the CAS-ual Friday challenge to use die cuts or punches on your project.

I have used two Tim Holtz dies; one for the "label" and one for the butterfly. I have used a Cuttlebug embossing folder and Hero Arts Lattice stamp behind the sentiment.

I have run out of weekend and there are several chores that did not get done as planned!! My improved vision has brought with it the ability to see dirty corners that have so far gone unnoticed.

It is a warm and sunny day here in Alabama. The air conditioner is running and I am grateful for it.

Have a great Sunday and Thanks for stopping by!

Dusting it Off!

Dusting it Off! by judkajudy
.
I dusted off this 2007 stamp from Hero Arts titled Pattern Flowers in order to enter the challenge at A Blog Named Hero where the challenge is to "dust off" an older stamp and create with it. This stamp, Pattern Flowers,  has been one of my favorite stamps since I bought it in 2007!

I used the technique Cheiron demo'd in her video at ABNH: embossed the image, then used the Distress Markers as watercolor paints. After that had dried, I went over parts of the image with the markers themselves.  I like the soft look that mixing the Distress Markers with water provides.

The pretty gingham trim is from the package of beautiful embelli's sent to me by Sally! As much as I love them, I decided not to hoard them, but enjoy using them! The pp is a digi of Hero Ats patterned paper.

I've had a fun day stamping! Hope you found some time to plaly today! Thanks for stopping by.

Papillion Color Challenge

Papillion Color Challenge by judkajudy
Lucky me! My name was drawn at the 90 Minute Scramble as the winner of this digi kit from Hero Arts called "Papillion".

I worked with the image in Paint Shop Pro and made the background Pool. After printing it out, I colored the butterflies with Copic Markers. I added some stitching to the sides; matted it and layered it onto a chocolate note card.

The challenge is to use the colors orange, yellow, green, pool and chocolate. I do love this color combination!

Hope everyone had a great weekend. It was rainy here, but we managed to cook steaks on the grill for Mother's Day. My sister brought a yummy salad and I made banana cream pie for dessert (wait, did I think it was Father's Day?)

Thanks for stopping by! Check out the Hero Arts blog for details on this month's challenge!

Blossoms and Buttons

100_4515 by judkajudy
.
I made this card using Paper Trey Ink's "Blooming Button Bits" set.  I'm entering it into the challenge being held at Catered Crop which is to incorporate the letter "B" somehow in your card.  Obviously, my "B" items are the blossoms and buttons!  Visit their blog for the details.  The challenge closes on Sunday, so you have time to become involved!

I was inspired to use Washi Tape by Donna Mikasa's darling felt cupcake card; however, I have no Washi tape!  I did remember that recently the use of "faux" Washi Tape was demo'd on A Blog Named Hero.  So, I trummed some pieces from assorted patterned paper and I like the look!

The flowers are stamped using a variety of Distress Inks.  I am pleased to be re-visiting some stamp sets that have been dwelling too long in the drawer!

Copic Coloring Practice

100_4518 by judkajudy
I love checking in on this website.  And last week there was this image available for coloring practice!

I printed out the image and followed the marker suggestions as closely as I could with the Copics I have on hand.  Marianne Walker works for the Copic company and teaches classes and writes helpful books on Copic techniques.

Check out the website; lots of helpful instruction and ideas.

Hope you are having a great day in your corner of the world!  It's a lovely spring day here.  Thanks for stopping by.

Poppy from Purple Onion Designs

Poppy from Purple Onion Designs by judkajudy
.
Hope your aren't tired of these images created by Tracey Yacula for Purple Onion Designs. It's a series called "Sweetest Day". When I saw them demonstrated so beautifully by Donna Mikasa on her blog, I knew they were my next purchase!!

It's been fun playing with them all week! This is a combination of paper piecing and coloring with Copics. And lately I am compelled to put a touch of gold glitter wherever I can!!

We are off to visit the Parade of Homes; a girl can dream, can't she?

Have a great weekend and thanks for stopping by!

Litle Tucker seems pretty happy to be included with the unique flowers!

There's some paper piecing and coloring with pencils on kraft. Added some gold glitter, too!

I've made cards using all the images in this series. It's been delightful!!

Freckles

Freckles by judkajudy
.
I won this Purple Onion Designs stamp "Freckles" by following the POD Blog Hop celebrating the new images created by Stacey Yacula.

I used PrismaColor pencils to color everything but Freckle's head; that is paper-pieced. I added a touch of gold glitter.

I bought the whole series of images created by this amazing artist and will post the cards I made using the bunnies and flowers and bird at a later date.

I hope this artist continues to provide her unique and adorable images to be used as stamps!

I've had a slow and lazy three days since returning from our trip to Cabo San Lucas! My body has returned to Alabama, but my heart and head are still enjoying the fun and excitement of the wedding week!

Thanks for stopping by!!
