Stitched Flowers

100_4612 by judkajudy
First of all, I have glued that top left strip down at least four times ... it seems to have a mind of its own.

I've used my new stamp set from Craft's Meow called Stitched Flowers as well as the sentiment from Stitched Sentiments. The flowers are colored with Copics and some Glossy Accents are added to the middle to make the stamped buttons look real!! The background paper is from Cosmo Cricket's Salt Air Mini Deck.

This set is one I will be reaching for often, I'm sure. Lots of pretty posies and leaves.

Well, the summer heat has arrived! Temperatures will be over 100 degrees this weekend. We have some shrubs that are in need of a haircut, but it seems they have to wait.

I've been busy putting the house back together after having the hardwood floor in the kitchen refinished. Note to self: never, never, never use water and ammonia to remove old wax from a wooden floor!

Thanks for stopping by.

Ms. Cupcake!

Ms. Cupcake! by judkajudy

I was browsing through Hallmark cards the other day ... I know, I know, but I wanted a special son-in-law birthday card. I spotted a musical "dancing cupcake" card and it inspired me to try putting a face on a cupcake! Couldn't figure out how to make her dance (I tried stick arms and legs and the expression on dh's face told me it wasn't working!) so she just gets to look cute on the front of a card!

That's a Hero Arts cupcake stamp, paper pieced and embellished. The sentiment is also Hero Arts.

Julie Ebersol inspired me to add the little window for the hearts. I think it is such a sweet idea (thanks, Julie). I always learn something when I visit her blog. And hearing her laugh makes my day!

Hope your Thursday is going well ... I've checked some things off on my to-do list and that is always a good feeling!

Polka Dots!

Polka Dots! by judkajudy

The challenge at CAS-ual Fridays this week is to use polka dots! I love this little guy from Purple Onion Designs!

I touched him up with Copic Markers, added some glitter to the flowr and added a purchased flower border to the grass. It's fun to ink this fella up; he makes me smile!!

Hope your week is going well!! Thanks for stopping by.

Mimi in the Skies

Mimi in the Skies by judkajudy
The challenge at the Penny Black Saturday Challenge blog this week is to use red, white and blue.  So here is Mimi, all decked out in her red, white and blue balloon! Perhaps she is flying over London to take in the Queen's Diamond Jubilee celebration!!

I've paper-pieced the balloon and basket and colored Mimi with Copics. Some stitching, some clouds and blue pp background and she's all set.

I did spend some time watching the Jubilee events on television. I was a little girl when Queen Elizabeth was crowned and was fascinated by the process! Now I realize how young she was at 25 to assume such an important role even as she was grieving the loss of her father!

We have a cloudy day with little showers now and then; just enough bad weather to keep us from finishing our power-washing chores!!

Hope your Sunday is a mix of relaxation and stamping time!! Thanks for stopping by!

Pampered Mimi

Pampered Mimi by judkajudy
This adorable Penny Black stamp was a birthday gift from a dear friend! I couldn't wait to ink it up. I agree with Mimi, there is nothing like a warm bubble bath to escape the day's stresses!

I colored the image with Copic markers, using a tissue dampened in rubbing alcohol to go over the bathtub after coloring it. I like the effect! I used the rubbing alcohol to clean up the markers with spots of smeary inks and it worked like magic!

I made the duckie and the ruffle on Mimi's cap three dimensional, using pop dots. I used Diamond Stickles as trim on the bubbles and ruffle; Tim Holtz white enamel on the candles.

Hope you have a chance to relax in your favorite way sometime this weekend! Thanks for stopping by.
